I get the impression we're supposed to have a low passive income (or even slightly negative) and maintain our income from battle loot and sacking settlements. It seems only just barely manageable to maintain an army stack without negative income. That can't be right? I know razing settlements gives a once-off +4, but that's nothing really. But now I need ELEVEN surplus to unlock Chaos Knights (maybe another 50 turns?) then the same again for Dragon Ogres, Giants, Hellcannons etc. I'm about 100 turns in and I've got my main "war host" building to Level 5, since I figured the extra growth would help unlock the other building quicker. Then add in regular events that give -5 growth for 3 turns. What's striking me is the incredibly slow horde growth and amount of population surplus needed to construct buildings. It's my first campaign as Chaos, playing on Hard.
